Dictionary of Cybersport Terms
MVP - "Most valuable player": A title in team games given at the end of the game to the player whose individual performance was the best. MVP is also an award given to the best player of a championship.
HP - "Health points" or "hit points", abbreviated as "HP": In games, it's a unit that determines the maximum amount of damage an object can take. If the current HP number reaches zero, the object dies.
NPC - "Non-player character": This is a character in a video game that isn't controlled by any player. Instead, it's controlled by the computer. It has predetermined behavior that can affect the outcome of the game.
XP or EXP - "Experience points": XP is a unit of measurement that shows the life experience and progress of a player's character during the game. Experience points are usually awarded for completing game tasks and winning games.
Noob, newbie - This is gaming slang that describes newcomers or poor players. The word "noob" is usually used by players as an insult.
