A key example of the application of this technology is the commercial flight operated by the Dutch airline KLM using biofuel derived from used oil. This initiative marked an important step in the decarbonization of aviation. The fuel used showed up to 85% lower emissions compared to conventional jet fuel.

Although the widespread implementation of this technology still presents challenges, similar pilot projects prove that environmentally friendly aviation is not just a theoretical possibility but is becoming a reality.
