The developed material is based on unique technology. The asphalt contains special microscopic spores that contain recycled oils. When a crack appears on the road surface, these spores activate and release oil, filling the crack. Laboratory tests have shown that this mechanism works extremely quickly - small cracks disappear in just one hour.

The project's distinctive feature is that it combines the latest developments in artificial intelligence with natural materials. Researchers used Google's cloud computing power to carefully study the molecular structure of bitumen and model its behavior under different conditions. This has made it possible to create an environmentally clean material that minimizes the use of petroleum products.

Preliminary calculations show that the use of self-healing asphalt can reduce road maintenance costs by up to 30 percent. At the same time, it contributes to environmental protection by reducing both construction waste and emissions associated with repair work.
